How to Hook Up a Smoky Lake Preheater

At the rear of the preheater, the lower left pipe is where your cold sap will enter the system.  The hot sap will exit the system and go to the float box at the upper right.  The vent can be extended up from the upper left, the lower right can be used as a drain.  If you desire, you can cap the upper left and the lower right and you can then branch the drain and vent off elsewhere else in the system.

The drip tray on this preheater is designed to drain into hood gutters. If you are not using a hood, we do have an alternate solution. The typical stainless steel preheaters which are compatible with 2×6 pan sets run about $1200. May I have a one of our maple specialists give you a shout to discuss further? Otherwise you can give our shop a shout at your convenience. (920) 202-4500.
