Main Advantages

Very economical. Doesn't necessarily require any additional equipment.

Steam Bottlers streamline the filtering and bottling process and help eliminate sugar sand.

Smoky Lake offers the FIRST and ONLY stainless steel Filter Press. Indisputably food grade.

Ease of Use

Straight forward to use. However, Cone Filters can plug up quickly. Using them can sometimes get messy.

Excellent upgrade from Cone Filters! Simply shimmy out the top prefilter whenever syrup flow slows.

Our illustrated instruction manual and video tutorials will walk you through the process. You will get the hang of it quickly!

Consumables
Certain filtering materials are considered one-time-use/disposable. Other materials/parts may wear out over time and may eventually need to be replaced.

Reusable filters and prefilters! See care instructions on the package.

Disposable paper filters and Filter Aide.

Syrup Waste
Some syrup will get absorbed into the filters during the filtering process.

Moderate. Some syrup will be soaked up into the cone filters.

Moderate. Some syrup will be soaked up into the Flat filters.

Very little. After filtering, very little syrup remains in the press. Any syrup that lands in the drip tray can be reserved for your next filtering session.

Filtering Speed
This is referring to the speed at which the syrup is able to pass through the filters. Gravity methods naturally take more time. Vacuum systems and Filter Presses can help pull/push syrup through faster.

Pre-wet the filters and use hot syrup for best results.

The optional Vacuum Filter Applicator can accelerate speed. Available for 16 x 16 Steam Bottlers.

The filtering goes fast! Especially when using an air pump because it frees up your hands.
