Calendar Girls for ALS
In 2012, maple syrup producer Eric Johnson of Tucker Mountain Maple was diagnosed with ALS (aka Lou Gehrig’s Disease). In Johnson’s honor, Smoky Lake Maple Products of Hilbert, Wisconsin organized a fundraiser called Calendar Girls for ALS to help those who are affected by this devastating terminal illness. The fundraiser’s beneficiary is Compassionate Care ALS (CCALS), a nonprofit whose generosity and compassion Johnson has experienced firsthand. CCALS is a revolutionary charity which routinely goes above and beyond for those they serve. They just truly care. Every penny raised for this charity will do a world of good.
Calendar Girls for ALS was made possible via an arts collaboration of many generous volunteers. The project’s beautiful, maple-inspired photography series has been compiled into a 2016 limited edition calendar. One hundred percent of the profit made from the calendar will go to benefit CCALS. Smoky Lake Maple Products and its team of volunteers/sponsors do NOT profit in any way.
The photography series is playful, lighthearted and free-spirited. It depicts a diverse group of incredible women making maple syrup and manufacturing maple equipment au naturel. The unconventional, artistic style reminds us to be confident and live each day to the fullest. It also reminds us to laugh at ourselves and not take ourselves too seriously. Live! Laugh! Love!
Smoky Lake Maple Products is grateful for the countless individuals and organizations who have offered their time, talent and resources to make this fundraiser a success.
Seeing this project come together has been evidence of just how many kind and generous people there are in this world.,” said Angela Schumacher. “I’ve been really consumed by this project over the last several months, but it is by far the most rewarding project I’ve ever been a part of.
Eric and I put this link on our Tucker Mountain Maple facebook page this afternoon and have already gotten lots of great responses! WE LOVE THE CALENDAR!! And we’re grateful that the fundraiser will go towards the excellent work that Compassionate Care ALS continues to do for us, and many other families (too many…) dealing with ALS.
I would especially like to thank all the wonderful, beautiful women who posed for the photography! Thank you thank you and thank you –
The silver lining of Eric’s ALS is the wonderful outpouring of support, like this…

Hello, I found the smokylakemaple.com page for the ALS calendar while performing research for a similar calendar to raise funds for athletes who have be injured and require extensive recovery support. I was wondering if there was a person with whom I could speak concerning any lessons learned from your efforts.
Thank you

My husband started riluzole for my Lou Gehrig’s disease but the disease became resistant. So i started on Ayurvedic treatment from Natural Herbs Centre , I had a total decline in symptoms after the 6 months treatment. This treatment is a breakthrough

My husband first symptoms of ALS occurred during covid, but was diagnosed in 2021 when he was 61 years. He was on Riluzole- not crazy about it! he was also on Gabapentin and Radicava not crazy about any of it either, The Rilutek (riluzole) did very little to help him. The medical team did even less. His decline was rapid and devastating. His arms weakened first, then his hands and legs. I was a master Gardener and love herbs! This ALS took my life from me, I was no longer able to work in my garden anymore because I was a full time caregiver for my husband. We stopped most of his ALS medications due to severe side effects and I started him on herbal treatments from Natural Herbs Centre naturalherbscentre. com , the treatment has made a very huge difference for him. His symptoms including body weakness and slurred speech disappeared after few months on the treatment. He is getting active again since starting this treatment, he is able to walk and able to ride his treadmill again.. This Ayurvedic treatment is a miracle!!
