How it Works

Air-Cooled Turbo Jet Burners

On high fire, these burners will bring your sap to a boil in less than 8 minutes. The regulator (included with the LP option) allows you to throttle and maintain the perfect temperature all day long. Each jet produces about 75,000 BTUs when using high pressure, 20 PSI.

Fully Insulated Arch Body

This evaporator comes fully insulated with ceramic blanket insulation. This amazing material will direct the heat into your pan, rather than allowing it to spill into the room and be wasted.

Fuel Efficiency

The 2′ x 4′ Gas fired burner system will consume about 9 lbs of LP per hour at a moderate rate of fire. At this rate the pan will be evaporating around 10–12 gallons per hour. This is a very efficient way to boil sap with gas!

On maximum fire, the 5 burners on the 2′ x 4′ burner set are capable of consuming up to 16 lbs of LP at which rate the evaporation rate increases disproportionately to about 15 gph. Moderation and fine tuning are important if you’re using this system as your primary evaporator. A pressure gauge on the burner manifold makes this quite easy. Likewise, a marginally lower firing rate will be more fuel efficient, but with a slightly lower evaporation rate.

Propane vs. Natural Gas

The propane version of this evaporator is 20 PSI to connect to a 100+ lb LP tank, outdoors. The natural gas option would be reconfigured to 2 PSI.

In most cases, it is more straight forward and cost effective to use propane. The propane model has a wider range of heat and also slightly more top end power.

Custom products across boiling, tapping, filtering, bottling and more. Designed to suit every size syrup producer, from commercial manufacturers to the backyard hobbyist.

Natural Gas Conversion

2 PSI is required if you opt for the natural gas version of this burner. Your home will have a 2 PSI service to the meter outside, but is likely reduced to 1/4 PSI before entering the house.

Many people have converted the service at their home in order to run our 2 PSI system. This conversion is done by your gas supplier for no cost. However, after the service is upgraded to 2 PSI, it will be your responsibility to put a local 1/4 PSI regulator before each of the appliances in your home (water heater, furnace, etc.) This might cost anywhere between $200 and $500 depending on if you hire this work out or do it yourself.
