Why Clean Your Pan’s Flues During the Maple Season?

When soot builds up on your flues, it acts as an insulator which negatively impacts your boil rate.

The Problem with Traditional Brush-Style Cleaning Tools

Traditionally, our competitors have offered very chintzy “Flue Brushes” for cleaning flues. These brushes had a long list of shortcomings.

Shortcomings of the traditional brush-style flue cleaner:

  • Traditional Brushes never included a handle. You just received the bristles and had to source your own handle.
  • Traditional Brushes were hard to push through the flue channels.
  • Traditional Brushes bent and broke very easily. Expected lifespan was about one season.
  • Traditional Brushes offered only superficial cleaning. They knocked off some of the powdery soot, but the bulk of the soot remained.

We are happy to report, we’ve invented a better way. The Smoky Lake Flue Scraper puts the traditional flue brushes to shame.
