Handcrafted in USA Handcrafted in USA The Smoky Lake Filter Press uses disposable 7″ Filter Paper. It is a 20 micron paper.
You may use other brands of this type of filter paper, but be sure to confirm the actual size. Some filter paper is sold as 7″ but are actually a bit wider. If that is the case, you will need to trim the left and right edges so that they will fit in your Smoky Lake Filter Press.
You may also notice that the holes in other brands of filter papers do not line up perfectly with your filter press. As long as there is some overlap between the filter paper holes and the stainless steel plates’ holes, they will still work.
Smoky Lake no longer carries the reusable 7″ filter papers, which was a product offered the first year our Filter Press was available. The reason we discontinued them is because they required a “break-in” period of 2 – 3 uses. During the break-in period, syrup was more susceptible to weep out between the plates. It is our desire to always meet or exceed your expectations.
