We have seen many creative ideas! On the East Coast, some of our customers have used their pans for boiling lobster. We have also received reports of Smoky Lake evaporators/pans being used to make sea salt, sorghum, corn syrup, apple cider/syrup, black walnut syrup and birch syrup.
At our own home, Jim and I have used our maple equipment to host our version of a “Hot Pot” party. Basically the pan is filled with a few inches of vegetable broth and throughout the evening, guests can throw in mushrooms, thin-sliced meats, noodles, or whatever else they desire to cook. Each guest tends to and retrieves their food with tongs whenever it’s ready to be enjoyed.
