Maple syrup producers eye potential tariff impacts

With tariffs, the cost of Canadian manufactured equipment is expected to go up. However, when Barbara Drewry was asked about her thoughts on the tariffs she said:

“What I’m also seeing and perceiving that will happen – if products coming into this country are going to cost us so much more – then we can manufacture right here. Why aren’t we manufacturing it here?”

Drewry Farms encourages their customers to “Buy Local”. And they practice what they preach. They themselves are buying American-made maple equipment whenever possible. This year, they are rocking a brand new maple syrup evaporator, handcrafted by Smoky Lake Maple Products in Calumet County, Wisconsin.
