This is a 2-foot-wide splash guard which easily attaches to the side rim of your Smoky Lake hybrid pan to help contain any drips during a really hard boil. Most commonly this splash guard is requested for only one side of the pan, the side opposite the inlet sap port. This is because incoming sap is usually colder, and as a result, splashing is generally a concern on only one side of the pan.

Like Gary K, I am running a Dauntless with hybrid pan and sap splashes down the backside of the guard and onto the floor during a hard boil. It’s simply not tall enough. I instead purchased three 18” tall stainless steel fryer splash guards on Amazon for less than this splash guard and they perform perfectly. I use two on the side with the float box and one on the opposing side.

Dis guard kept my pan cleaner. Period. I ain’t hatin. Yeah, you still gotta clean up yo stuff at the end of the year. I didn’t never expect dis guard to eliminate all my cleanin. It’s coo baby. It’s just maple syrup ya’all.

This Splash Guard needs to be TALLER! A full hard boil of sap in the hybrid pan for the Dauntless will splash up, over, and down the outside of the guard and the pan. I had previously used an old cookie sheet clamped to the side while waiting for the splash guard to arrive. The cookie sheet out-performed the splash guard! And the cookie sheet and a couple of silicone-coated clamps are less expensive, too.
