Smoky Lake Sponsors the Wrightstown Robotics Team

May 6, 2024

Smoky Lake was very proud to sponsor the 2024 Robotics Team from Wrightstown High School. This year, the team went all the way to the Championship in Texas! Check out the thank you video they created for us.

Letter from the coach, 5/13/2024

Dear Smoky Lake

On behalf of all the students in Wrightstown High School Robotics Club, we would like to express our gratitude for the opportunity to compete at the World Championship. This experience would not have been possible without the generous support of our sponsors: Smoky Lake Maple Products, Belmark, HJ Martin & Sons, Heartland Business Systems, Chris Czarnik, Fox Valley Wood Products, GreenLeaf Bank, Dawn Nawrot, Drexel Building Supply, Weyer’s Equipment, Wrightstown Dental, Mike/Hazel Kaiser and Cathy Strommen.

Our journey to Dallas provided the students with new challenges, experiences, and diverse conversations. Among the 822 teams from 78 countries, we competed in the fourth toughest division. Our students skillfully operated and maintained their robot, consistently ranking in the mid to lower teens among eighty-two teams in their division. However, during the second to last match, the robot’s aluminum drivetrain significantly bent causing binding. The students attempted repairs but lacked the time to replace the damaged metal. Consequently, our rank dropped from 15th to 35th, and we did not advance to the division finals.

The Wrightstown High School Robotics Club is an after school extracurricular activity composed of three teams and twenty one students. Our program is concluding its fifteenth year as we begin to look forward to next season.

Thank you,
