How Do I Hammer A Stainless Steel Tubing Spout Into A Tree?

September 24, 2018

A Slide Hammer is a specialized hammer, used to install/remove Tubing Spouts from your trees. It is handy because if tubing is connected to the Tubing Spout before the spout is seated into the tree, then there is no surface for a traditional hammer to hit against.

Start with the Slide Hammer extended long. Place the U-shaped tip of the Slide Hammer around the collar on the Tubing Spout. Hammer the Spout into the tap hole by swiftly pushing the handle of the Slide Hammer toward the tree. Repeat until the Tubing Spout is adequately seated. In order to protect the trunk of the tree, do not hammer the spout further into the tree than necessary.

If you prefer to use a regular, traditional hammer, simply connect your tubing to the spout after the spout has been seated in the tree.

Smoky Lake does not sell Slide Hammers at the time of writing this article.

Do you have a slide hammer available for sale? I didn’t see one on your tools page.
