Preparing Pans for First Use

October 31, 2018
  1. Make sure that all protective vinyl has been removed from your pans before first use. Otherwise, the fire will melt the vinyl and it will permanently adhere to your pan. TIP: Vinyl peels off easier when it is warm. If possible, avoid peeling the vinyl outdoors during winter.
  2. Before filling the pan with sap, rinse the pan with clean water and wipe dry.
  3. Make sure draw-off valve is closed and all connections/gaskets are in place before adding sap to the pan.

Follow the Start-Up Checklist before lighting your fire.
