I ordered and receive the 6″ Stack Thermometer last spring and never looked at it until I hung it up before sugaring this year. I should have paid attention because my buddy pointed out that the needle was on the wrong side of the pin. I sent a quick email and shortly I received a prepaid label to send it back for replacement. Minutes later I received a call from Jimmy giving me guidance on how I could get the needle on the correct side. Using Jimmy’s insight my thermometer was fixed within seconds! I have now used this for two boils and it has truly helped us to know when we need to add wood, and also when we have added to much wood. I now know that there is a sweet spot and if I get my fire too hot it is sending all that heat right out of the stack. Thank you Angela and Jimmy for your outstanding support each and every time I have reached out to you!

This is just a great product! You simply cannot buy a 6″ dial thermometer in the appropriate range for a wood fired maple evaporator with such a long remote mounting capability. The gauge comes with a mounting plate, is large and easy to read from across the room and can be located exactly where you want it. Knowing the stack temp is key to running a wood fired evaporator by taking all the guesswork out of when to fire; the temp really tells the story of what is going on in the firebox. Smokey Lake has hit all the right points on this thermometer!

Make sure the pointer is on the right side of the stop before you drill a hole into your stack. I did call and sent a picture but have not heard back.
