Description
Now the supreme quality and performance of American-made evaporators from Smoky Lake Maple Products can be enjoyed by the smallest hobby level maple syrup producer on the most modest of budgets. We’ve achieved this feat through large scale mass production of a proven, bolt-together design. Assembly is made easy through precision fitment of quality parts. Best of all, the Dauntless is built as an expandable platform, allowing the evaporator’s production rate to be increased as the operator’s tap count increases.
Just like the larger, professional-grade Evaporators offered by Smoky Lake, the Dauntless features an insulated airtight door, forcing combustion air to be drawn through the fire from underneath while keeping cold air from leaking in and cooling the underside of the pans. The Dauntless arch is even 100% insulated with 1″ thick ceramic fiber insulation. This channels the heat into the sap while keeping the sides of the arch at a safe temperature. The combustion chamber is then lined with cut-free firebrick to ensure longevity.
The producer has the option to crown the Dauntless arch with any one of three styles of 20″ wide x 4′ long pan systems. The three pan systems, can be swapped out at any time as the maple producer’s needs change or their tap count grows. The versatility of the Dauntless is unmatched by any other brand. Dauntless allows the producer to buy the arch (firebox) one time, then make smaller investments/upgrades/adjustments as their needs change.
Product SupportPremium, Stainless Steel Divided Pan
The handcrafted, mirror finish stainless steel pan is the same premium quality that we are known for. We use high grade 22ga stainless steel which enables more efficient heat transfer from the fire to the sap compared to our competitor’s thicker stainless steel. Two continuous flow dividers are formed into the structure of the pan, NOT tacked into place as an afterthought. The pan profile includes full-length handles which offers easy maneuverability and increased strength. A thermometer port with 3″ dial thermometer and a stainless steel draw-off valve are also included.

Just giving you an update, so I have finally got my first draw off today!! I took around 100 gallons of sap for me to get to that point but the results are worth the wait. Also the Murphy Cup is the best makes it so so easy to achieve proper density so glad I decided to purchase one. We are getting huge sap flows so going to be a busy week. Thanks have a great week!

Wow! We picked up the Dauntless, with a divided pan, in early March, 2020. What a machine. Talk about making life easier. It works so well, that its hard to keep up with sometimes. If you start the day with 60 gallons of sap, you better be collecting more throughout the day. We are burning about 15 gallons per hour. When you are done, make sure to have 10 gallons or more saved. The shutdown takes awhile, because the bricks stay hot and it keeps evapoarting. Also, it eats wood, so have a decent supply. Great job Smoky Lake Maple.

I got my Dauntless just in time for the expected big run this week. I am very impressed with the engineering that went into this product. Everything went together relative easily and fit together like a glove! I recommend using a magnet to find and separate the 2 stainless steel washers out of the pile of fasteners, you will have a hard time identifying them if you don’t. I started the evaporator up with just water in order to season the paint and bricks and was impressed to see steam rising from the pan after only a few moments. This weekend I will be boiling for the first time this season! I would highly recommend this evaporator! Smokey Lake as a life long customer here!

I purchased the Dauntless last year for this year’s Sorghum crop .
We harvested one patch and after pressing the juice out , letting it settle we fired up the Dauntless, Boiled our juice and a few hours later we had Sorghum Syrip , This product is amazing, what impressed us the most besides the quality was how easy cleanup was .
Highly recommended products!!!!!!!
