What Is Forced Draft?

The optional Forced Draft Kit available from Smoky Lake injects air under the fire to dramatically increase combustion and heat in the firebox. In addition to the blower which mounts on the back of the firebox, the kit comes with special Domed Grates which optimize the air flow within the firebox. In contrast, a Natural Draft system allows air into the firebox through the arch’s Draft Door.

Forced Draft Offers Several Benefits Over Natural Draft

1. Forced Draft will create about 20% greater fuel efficiency and up to 50% more productivity
2. Forced Draft makes it easier to burn larger/unseasoned wood. This means you won’t have to cut your firewood as fine and you can burn wood that is less perfect.
3. Forced Draft has a faster shut down time because it allows firewood to burn quicker and more completely.
